GMX Volume 3 was a great success last year; your overwhelming, positive comments made that very clear! That being said, we always strive to make our fans happy and produce an exceptional show, and we have to to keep a close eye on fan feedback to make that happen. You have spoken, we have listened, and it is with great pleasure that we announce Geek Media Expo Volume 4 has a new home, folks! A bigger home. A home that may be familiar to some and new to others. A home with much more ample parking! This October, GMX Volume 4 will be making ourselves at home at the Cool Springs Conference Center, with onsite accommodations at the Franklin Marriott the weekend of October 26-28! We feel the perfect con weekend is just before Halloween. After all, who wouldn't want to attend the biggest and best costume party in town?
Adjoining the Franklin Marriott,
the Cool Springs Conference Center may be familiar to long-standing MTAC attendees as the convention site in 2007. Located minutes south of downtown in the Greater Nashville area, the Franklin Marriott brings with it over 29,000 square feet of exhibition and meeting space! Additionally, this new venue is surrounded by great restaurants to keep you fueled during the show and even provides an indoor, saline pool for some relaxing downtime while on site.
We really appreciate your feedback every year, and we are very excited to bring you more of what you asked for! We have more dealer and panel space! More parking! More dining options! More communal, "hang-out" areas! More everything, and we can't wait to get this show to each and every one of you! It will be a great year, and it's all because of you. How to enter? It's easy! First, head on over to Facebook and "like" GMX. Then simply look for the official contest status message. (To make your life easier, we will label it with "OFFICIAL CONTEST MESSAGE!") Within that message, there is a fun question. Simply answer that question within the comment section of that message and you get an entry. It's as simple as that! Only comments listed on the original message will count toward the contest.
But that's not all. Share the love with your friends by sharing that official message on your own Facebook page and get a second entry! It couldn't be easier! Remember that you must share directly from the GMX page to be counted.
Three random names will be drawn from all of the entries to win a prize. And what are we playing for?

The regeneration cycle is complete. GMX Volume 3's Windu Purple has given way to Speeder Yellow...and so we begin rolling up our sleeves and setting to work on GMX Volume 4. The response to Volume 3 was absolutely phenomenal from all accounts. Over 1,200 people attended GMX this year and we raised $2,000 in charitable donations! We are riding high on that feel good wave as we commence laying down plans for 2012. Truth be told, work on Volume 4 started earlier this year, and we have some supremely exciting projects already in the works! If you enjoyed Volume 3, hold on to your capes, GMX fans, because Volume 4 is going to pwn you! Look for date and venue announcements in the coming weeks, followed soon after by upcoming featured guests, exhibitors, programming, sponsors and events!
October might seem far, far away, so to preserve your sanity while you wait patiently for Volume 4 to arrive, be on the lookout for our "GMX Presents..." events that will take place throughout the year in Nashville and the surrounding area. The very popular Geek Pride Extravaganza will be returning May 25th, in addition to a number of entertaining and engaging social events that will ensure you get your much needed geek fix! The GMX Promo Team will also be hitting the road once again and appearing at conventions across the Southeast. If you see us, be sure to stop by and say, "Hello!"
Lastly, be sure to keep your video cameras charged and at the ready. We've got a fun contest in the works that will be announced before the New Year!

It is with deepest sadness that we must announce the passing of Ryan Jones.
Many of you may have known or had the good fortune of meeting Ryan Jones at MTAC, GMX, or any number of other conventions. His resemblance to David Tennant, the 10th Doctor of Dr. Who fame, was uncanny, but moreso, he had a brilliant, gentle spirit and a kind soul. We feel fortunate to have had the great pleasure of knowing such an incredible and inspiring person, and to be able to support him with the help of Ryan's Army, a community of friends dedicated to his cause.
Ryan's passing will be felt throughout GMX, as he was very active with the 501st Legion and a number of our attendees and staff members were close to him. Ryan is the "Doctor" for which our A Doctor for the Doctor mystery mixer was attributed, and it will go on, now as a celebration of Ryan and his life.
Ryan's spirit will be with us this weekend as we dedicate GMX Volume 3 to the life and memory of our much beloved Doctor and friend, Ryan Jones.
Rest in peace, dear friend.
